Is working from home a scam?
By Ronald Curtis Jr
Since I have been in the WAH industry from 2003-present, I often times hear the word scam. I am talking a lot? I mean, there must be a lot of people who have been scammed, not even sure I understand the meaning of scam, from supposed work at home companies? Is working from home a scam, ummmmm, no. Is every work at home program legitimate, no. Are there people trying to make money and willing to lie about what they are offering, yes. How would you know? That is a great question. Interestingly enough there are 100's, no 1000's of people who look into WAH opportunities every hour. What I find fascinating is that most people will look at a website for less than 2 minutes and assume they already know about the business they are looking into and quickly decide they are not interested. Then they will deny ever looking into the opportunity should you try and follow up with them. Ok, so on average Humans have an attention span of less than 15 minutes. So it has been proven that by offering a little bit of information upfront is good, then, once ready, they can request more info. When this happens, and they are sent additional information, the prospect gets upset when they find out there is a cost involved. Then they start screaming that word, "scam," I don't get it. Where you work, does your company sell something? They do? "Scammers!" Give me a break, let's be real. In order to generate an income, no matter the business or industry, there must be a value for value exchange. If there is no product or service being sold in a business you are looking into, then I would be a little nervous about getting involved. There are so many people who are looking for easy ways to make money online. Most don't want to invest any money, they just want someone to pay them to work on the computer? It is understandable that most people are looking for jobs online, whether they realize it or not, as that is what they know. If you are looking for a job, be specific on your search. If you are looking to work at home, what that really means is, you are interested in starting a Home Based Business. As with any business, there will be investments to get started. This should be expected! How much will depend on the business you are researching. It is quite humorous though when someone says they want to start their own business, then they ask, what is the cheapest way? The best question to ask is, What is the best way! If it is more than you have set aside to get started, set goals for making up the difference, then go after it. No business will ever succeed until you are totally sold out and believe in what you are doing. Make sure the business/opportunity you are researching is something that you can believe in! Another word that is being overused and abused online is Spam. It seems everything is spam and everything is a scam these days. The fact is industry has changed, and what people are used to in the corporate world and job market, are not the same online. Though there will always be "Scammers" and "Spammers" be careful you don't pre-judge everything as one or the other. If you do, it is your Financial Future that you may be destroying. Thanks for reading my rant. God bless! Ron |

Thank you for sharing this information, Ron. Keep up the great intels. Frederick
You are right, the most accessible work-at-home opportunity is a business started by yourself. But the shift from worker to enterepreneur is not one that everybody can make.

Thanks for commenting. I believe anyone willing to learn and apply new information can shift from the mindset of employee to business owner. The reality, most will choose not to. There is a lack of Leadership Education in our Country and the results are evident. "The World belongs to the person who can make decisions based on new information." - Unknown
What rant? I think that you have provided some good information here. I always try to research every opportunity that comes my way as a learning experience at the worst and a real opportunity at the best. This approach gives you a pretty good FEEL of what to invest more time in and what is a canned presentation that everybody including Uncle Bob is doing and failing at.

Thanks for your comment! Coming from the affiliate marketing/leads generation industry, I have seen it all. If people could be properly educated on the work at home industry before they start their journey, it would decrease the effectiveness of spammers/black hat marketers, and increase the success of the prospect. All the best! Ron
